Our role, your responsibilities and how we handle your information.

Terms & platform disclaimer
Discover here. Transact with the seller.
madelah is an independent directory and advertising platform by Discipunc. It helps people discover businesses, contact them and send itemised order requests. Basic listings are free for food, drink and dessert sellers. Sponsored / spotlight advertising is a future optional service. Each seller is an independent operator, not our employee, agent or partner. The contract for goods or services is between the buyer and seller. madelah is not a party to that contract and does not prepare, supply, inspect, store or deliver the advertised food.
We relay order requests and summaries when email delivery is enabled; an acknowledgement from madelah is not seller acceptance or a payment receipt. Sellers must confirm capacity, dates and final prices directly. We do not collect food-order payments, hold deposits, offer escrow, fulfil orders or provide buyer protection. Bank and money transfers take place directly between buyer and seller. Agree prices, quantities, ingredients, allergens, delivery charges, collection times, cancellation and refund terms with the seller before ordering. Keep records of your agreement and payment. A link to another website does not mean we control it.
Listings are information, not an endorsement
Sellers are responsible for the accuracy and currency of their listings. Details can change. Listing approval is a content-moderation decision, not a kitchen inspection, regulatory approval or verification of every claim. We do not warrant that listings are complete, accurate or continuously available. Sample listings are fictional, clearly marked and cannot accept orders.
Muslim ownership, an owner’s halal declaration, a food-handling course certificate and halal certification are different. An uploaded certificate does not establish that a kitchen is licensed, inspected or halal-certified. Check current certification with the relevant authority and clarify ingredients and cross-contact risks directly with the seller. madelah is not affiliated with SFA, HDB, URA or MUIS.
Problems, reports and moderation
Raise order, delivery and refund issues with the seller first. Use Contact / report a listing for misleading claims, prohibited activity, intellectual-property concerns or privacy requests. Include the business name and relevant facts; do not send identity documents or payment credentials. We may request evidence, restrict content or suspend listings and accounts while reviewing a concern. We may cooperate with authorities where required or permitted by law. Reporting to us does not replace contacting SFA about food safety or the relevant authority about suspected offences.
Responsibility and legal limits
To the extent permitted by Singapore law, madelah is not responsible for an independent seller’s acts or omissions, food quality, order performance, or losses caused by buyer–seller dealings or third-party websites. This is not a blanket exclusion of our own legal responsibilities. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded or limited. Any permitted exclusion is subject to applicable statutory requirements, including reasonableness where required.
Use madelah lawfully. Do not impersonate others, submit false documents, publish misleading claims, infringe rights, harass users or interfere with the service. Singapore law governs these terms, subject to mandatory protections. Material changes will be dated here; sellers must accept the current terms when submitting a listing. Changes do not retrospectively alter an agreed advertising purchase.
Seller rules & home-business guide
This is a practical summary, not an exhaustive statement of law or permission to operate. Requirements depend on your activity, premises and circumstances. Check the current official sources below and obtain any registration, consent or approval that applies.
Keep the home a home
The Home-Based Business Scheme is for small-scale activity within a residence. HDB flats and private homes have their own applicable conditions. Operate only as an eligible resident and obtain the property owner’s consent where required. Do not bring in non-resident employees or third-party operators, install business signs at the residence, use non-domestic heavy equipment, or create large-scale storage and frequent loading. Avoid disturbance, excessive traffic and hazards to neighbours. Follow fire-safety and other agency requirements. The Home Office Scheme is a different scheme; its staffing allowances do not automatically apply to a home food business.
Food safety remains your responsibility
SFA currently does not require a licence for qualifying home-based food businesses, but food laws still apply. Home businesses must not offer catering, supply SFA-licensed food retailers, supply home-prepared food to or at temporary fairs, or sell ready-to-eat raw seafood. Source ingredients legally from appropriate licensed sources; food brought home for personal consumption from overseas must not be used for commercial sale. Follow any SFA recall or stop-operation direction promptly.
Keep preparation areas and equipment clean, prevent pests and contamination, separate raw and ready-to-eat food, wash hands, cook thoroughly and maintain safe storage and delivery temperatures. Do not handle food while unwell. Follow SFA’s hygiene guidance and consider its recommended food-safety training. A course certificate does not substitute for safe daily practices.
Be accurate, authorised and accountable
- Check ACRA registration requirements and any other permissions relevant to your business; a madelah account is not business registration.
- Provide accurate menus, prices, portions, availability, ingredients, allergen information and order terms. Do not make unsupported safety, health, certification or halal claims.
- Only upload material you own or have permission to use. Do not publish customers’ personal information. Redact unnecessary identity numbers, home addresses, signatures and other personal details from certificates.
- Keep your listing and documents current. Notify us of a recall, suspension, expired or withdrawn certification, or material safety issue. Pause your listing when you cannot trade lawfully.
- Handle customer payments, fulfilment, complaints and refunds directly, in accordance with your agreement and applicable law.
By submitting a listing, you confirm your authority to represent the business, your compliance with applicable requirements and the accuracy of your information. You retain ownership of your content and give madelah a non-exclusive permission to host, resize and display it to operate and promote your listing on the platform. Private evidence is for review, not public advertising. You can archive your listing and request removal of stored material through our contact form, subject to lawful retention needs.
Featured HBBs
Basic discovery listings remain free. Sponsored / spotlight advertisements are in the pipeline for businesses seeking more exposure. Pricing and booking terms will be announced before launch. Paid bookings are not open and no payment is collected here.
Featured placements will be labelled Sponsored. Payment buys the stated placement opportunity, not an endorsement, halal status, exclusive visibility or guaranteed impressions, enquiries or sales. Listings must meet the same rules as free listings. Rotation will respect relevant search and location filters.
Before checkout becomes available, the booking screen will state the final price, any applicable taxes, duration, start date, rotation arrangements, availability, cancellation and refund terms. Any fee paid to madelah will be for advertising only and separate from food orders. No automatic renewal is currently offered.

What we collect and why
Seller sign-in uses ChatGPT. We use the site-specific account identifier and available sign-in details to authenticate you and protect your records. Seller accounts store your name and contact email. Listings store the business information, links, photos and optional supporting documents you provide. We use these to operate the directory, moderate content and respond to concerns. Contact forms collect your reply email, topic, relevant business name and message to handle your request. We do not use these contact details for marketing without a separate appropriate basis.
Order requests and email
When order-request email is enabled, buyers provide a name, email, selected items, quantities, requested dates and optional notes. No buyer account is needed. The buyer email is passed to our transactional email provider and the selected sellers so they can respond directly; it is not stored in madelah’s application database. The email service and recipients retain their email copies under their own terms. Do not put your email address or sensitive personal information in the notes field. We store the buyer’s name, request reference, items, dates, notes, status and notification timestamps for fulfilment and administration. Seller reminders use the seller’s registered business contact email. Sellers must use buyer details only for the request and associated legal duties, not unsolicited marketing.
What others can see
Approved business profiles, neighbourhoods, menu details, selected photos and external links are public when the site is public. Contact email, phone, postal code and certificates entered in designated private fields are accessible only to the relevant seller and authorised administration, not shown in public listings. Do not put private information into public descriptions, captions or links. Supporting certificates are not publicly displayed.
Service providers supporting hosting, storage and authentication process information as needed to operate the service; this may involve processing outside Singapore. We must apply the safeguards required by applicable data-protection law. We may disclose relevant information when required by law or to address lawful safety and abuse investigations. We do not sell your personal information.
Optional location matching
Use my location asks your browser for permission. Coordinates are used on your device to choose an approximate Singapore region and are not sent to madelah’s application server or stored in its database. Sellers disclose regions rather than precise home addresses, so this is not an exact-distance or nearest-business service. You can select a region manually instead.
Your browser and external services
The request bag and buyer email remain in temporary page memory and are cleared when you reload or leave the page; your browser may separately offer autofill. Saved businesses are stored in this browser’s local storage and can be removed using the Saved controls or by clearing site data. Authentication uses the hosting provider’s sign-in mechanisms. External images, fonts and linked websites may receive ordinary connection information such as your IP address; their own privacy terms apply. madelah currently does not implement advertising trackers or campaign analytics. We will update this notice before introducing them.
Retention and your choices
We retain information only while needed to run the service, handle requests and meet legitimate legal or business needs. Archiving hides a listing; it does not delete its stored data or uploaded files. Removing an image from a draft also does not immediately erase the stored upload. Use our privacy contact form to request access, correction, deletion or withdrawal of consent, or raise a data-protection concern. We may verify your identity securely and explain any lawful limits. Withdrawing information necessary for a seller account may prevent us from continuing that service. No identity document should be submitted through this form.
Requests are received by madelah’s operator for review. This is not an emergency channel. Security cannot be guaranteed absolutely; we restrict private records by account ownership and administrative access and must respond to relevant data incidents under applicable law.
